Teachers to benefit from higher salary increases in Moldova

Chisinau, 28 July /MOLDPRES/ - The teachers will be able to benefit from higher salary increases for acting as class masters, verification of written works and activities in which children with special educational requirements are involved. The increases will represent 10 per cent of the annual budget meant for paying salaries to the teachers at the most. A draft on the matter has been proposed for public consultations. Education and Research Minister Dan Perciun made statements to this effect today.    

The minister noted that, after the document is approved, a teacher with a class of 35 pupils would be able to benefit from a salary increase for working as class master of 880 lei at the most, against 560 lei at present. Each institution is to establish the sum, depending on the resources it has.      

The specific increase for acting as class master will be provided for the time effectively worked during the school year, including during vacations. This provision has been lacking previously. The increase for the verification of written works, administration of office, as well as for the work with pupils with special educational requirements will be able to be provided for the time effectively worked on the period 1 September – 31 May, including the autumn, winter, spring and Easter vacations.     

The calculations of the specific salary increases will be made annually, in correlation with the office salary of the teacher of the primary school and the one of the teacher from the secondary education. The calculations will be made based on the number of pupils registered on 1 October of each school year.
