Chisinau, July 31. /MOLDPRES/- The legislative initiative of deputies from the Action and Solidarity Party faction Andrian Cheptonar, Ion Șpac and Roman Roșca regarding the amendment to the State Security Law was approved today in the first reading by the parliament.

Thus, the law will be revised under the aspect of the notion of risks, threats and special danger to the state, in order to establish and determine expressly the powers of the competent body to prevent and combat this phenomenon. The legislative changes are necessary to avoid the inconsistency between the State Security Law and the Law on the Intelligence and Security Service of the Republic of Moldova (SIS), recently adopted by the Parliament.

According to the document, it is proposed that in Article 4 of the State Security Law, the actions that present a particular danger to the security of the country are expressly provided for. Among them are the usurpation of state power, the violent change of the constitutional order, threats or cyber incidents, influencing the electoral processes in order to promote their own interests by foreign states, unconstitutional entities or organized crime, treason, the establishment of illegal organizations or groups.

The draft law is to be voted by the Parliament in the second reading.
