Moldovan MPs approve new regulations on ecological agriculture

Chisinau, 31 July /MOLDPRES/ - The MPs today adopted a draft law aimed at ensuring the sustainable development of the ecological production.

The document was worked out by the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry and its goal is to establish a normative framework aligned with the international standards, as well as to ensure the efficient work of the domestic market of ecological products, loyal competition and the protection of consumers’ interests.

The draft stipulates the products and substances allowed for use in the ecological production, the labeling and certification of ecological products, their import and export, as well as the measures which can be enforces, if the conformity in the ecological production is not observed. The document also sees the delegation of more powers to the National Food Safety Agency, including through the redirection to the Agency of powers which are presently exercised by the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry.
