Chisinau, 26 August /MOLDPRES/ - The value of wines’ export in January-August 2023 has registered a significant increase, estimated at about 105 million dollars or by over 40 per cent more against the same period of the year before and by 27 per cent higher against the average value in the last ten years. The National Office of Vine and Wine (ONVV) unveiled data to this effect at the seventh edition of the National Conference of the vine-growing and wine-making channel titled, Harvest of grapes 2023: Peculiarities and turning to account.

„In the last ten years, the vine-growing and wine-making sectors of Moldova have made, in the direct sense of the word, a revolution, reaching the highest level of development. A lot of work has been carried out, for which I congratulate you. Now, we are to continue all these processes. The principal directions of action are: consolidation of the relations between the vine-growers and wine-makers, enhancement of the productivity and quality of grapes, stimulation of the activities of promotion and marketing. This is badly necessary, as we are in a sharp competition with all countries which produce wines regionally and globally,’’ Deputy Prime Minister, Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Vladimir Bolea said at the event.

This year, increased subsidies will be provided from the state budget to back the vine-growers and wine-makers. Also, information sessions on the compulsoriness of the registration of the vine plots of land in the Vine-Growing and Wine-making Register were held in Moldova’s districts. This is necessary, in order to ensure clarity in the technological process and follow the product’s traceability.
