Festival of berries, honey to be held in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 14 September /MOLDPRES/ - Twelve producers and 23 beekeepers will present their apiarian products at the festival of berries and honey, held on the square of the Maria Biesu National Opera and Ballet Theatre on 15-16 September.   

A student of the Moldovan Technical University, Bajerean Nicolina, at the event will organize a master-class on the preparation of vegetarian brioches. Also, nutritionists will hold a session of discussions on the benefits of the consumption of berries and honey.    

The executive director of the National Association of Beekeepers from Moldova, Ion Maxim, said visitors would be able to buy more types of honey at the festival, beginning with multi-flower honey and up to the lavender and coriander honey.   

At the same time, the head of the Moldova’s Berries Association, Ana Ganenco, said that more types of season berries would be displayed at the current edition of the festival, such as goji berries and cranberries. All fruits will be put up for sale with tastings; buyers will be able to purchase berries directly from farmers at the first cost, without intermediary taxes.    

The festival of berries and honey is at its third edition and is organized by Moldova’s Berries Public Association and the Public Association, National Association of Beekeepers from Moldova, in partnership with the Praetor’s Office of Chisinau’s Buiucani district, Chisinau city hall, and with the support of the Rural Competitiveness and Resilience Activity Project of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), in order to back local producers.
