Promo-LEX: Six polling stations opened with minor delay

Chisinau, Nov. 19 /MOLDPRES/- Promo-LEX observation mission registered 27 reports of incidents in the runoff elections by 10:00 a.m. The data were presented today by Promo-LEX program director Nicolae Panfil.

Six polling stations were opened with an insignificant delay of up to ten minutes. "In 29 percent of reported cases, the solemnity of the voting process was not ensured by singing the national anthem at the opening of the polling station and displaying the flag, these being new provisions of the Electoral Code, to ensure a solemn process", said Panfil.

Among the incidents reported by the observers are cases of electoral campaigning, the presence of advertising materials in the polling station, the unjustified presence of unauthorized persons in the polling station premises or within a 100-meter radius, the interruption of the filming process of electoral operations, deficiencies in the operation of the automated "Elections" information system. At the same time, the observers reported cases of violation of the secrecy of the vote and incidents aimed at sealing the ballot boxes.

Promo-LEX today has static observers in 175 polling stations, out of the total of 620 open stations. Another 445 polling stations will be covered by the 50 mobile teams of the Observation Mission.

The runoff election is taking place today in 273 localities in the country. In total, 839,239 people are expected at the polls today.
