Moldova's parliament to boost relations of cooperation with Norwegian legislative body

Chisinau, 20 November /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu today discussed with a delegation of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence from the Storting (parliament) of Norway, led by Ine Marie Eriksen Søreide. During the discussions, the officials agreed on boosting the cooperation between the parliaments, friendship groups and specialty commissions, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.      

„Being in a full process of adjusting the legislation, we are interested in receiving expertise in such priority sectors as strengthening of the institutional capacities, justice reform, energy security. The publication of the European Commission’s report, which recommends that the European Union member states initiate the negotiations with Moldova, confirm our effort to carry out these serious reforms,’’ Igor Grosu said.    

The agenda of discussions included also subjects on the assistance provided by Norway in the national campaign of environmental protection and afforestation, as well as on the attraction of investments in the renewable energy sector. The officials also discussed the situation in the region, the support provided by Moldova to Ukrainian refugees and the fight against the hybrid war. ‘’The state’s institutions are involved in combating this phenomenon, which comes on behalf of the Kremlin and the vote of the citizens in the last three ballots clearly shows that Moldova’s future is European,’’ the parliament speaker said.    

Also today, the Norwegian lawmakers had a common meeting with the head of the parliament’s commission for foreign policy and European integration, Doina Gherman, and the head of the commission for national security, defence and public order, Lilian Carp.
