Moldovan PM says there are no reasons for government to increase tariffs
Chisinau, 5 December /MOLDPRES/ - We have no reason to increase the tariffs. Also, it is quite important that, each time, the government takes care to compensate the additional expenses for the citizens. Prime Minister Dorin Recean today evening made statements to this effect at the programme, Punctul pe Azi (Point on Today) at the TVR Moldova station.
The official stressed that, each time, the cabinet would intervene and would support the citizens. ‘’As we see the development of the natural gas market, there are no reasons for us to be troubled as regards the increase in tariffs. What is quite important, each time, the government takes care to compensate the additional expenditures for the citizens. Even in the new conditions, the tariffs from this year are not higher than the tariffs for the previous year. They are even lower. Yet, this does not mean that we must not optimize the purchasing price, that we should not work in continuation to diminish the tariffs,’’ Dorin Recean said.
The PM noted that, starting from this month compensations would be provided to the citizens. ‘’We made a budgetary rectification and we added another over 111 million lei to this package of compensations. So as to adjust ourselves to the citizens’ needs following the increase in tariffs, staring from 1 December,’’ Dorin Recean also said.
In the 2024-2025, the citizens will benefit from compensations with values worth from 300 to 800 lei per month. The sum will be able to be transferred to card or taken at post office. The value of the compensation will be calculated individually, for each household. So far, about 703,000 citizens have been registered in the compensations’ system.
To receive compensations, all household consumers must submit an application, no matter whether they submitted an application last year or not. The application can be filled online, on the website www.compensatii.gov.md or with the help of registers. The applications can be submitted during all the period of the cold season, till the date of 25 of each month; yet, the compensations will be provided starting the month of the application’s submission.
The government provides compensations for energy to the vulnerable households through the programme, Assistance at Meter, for the third year in a row. The compensations are provided for the cold period of the year, which includes the months November-March.
