Over 500 companies might benefit from new facilities in Moldova
Over 500 companies might benefit from new facilities. MP Radu Marian today informed about the registration of two legislative initiatives aimed at providing additional support to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Moldova.
The new measures target both the expansion of access to financial support programmes and the encouragement of local production through the public procurement system.
The first initiative announced by the head parliamentary commission for economy, budget and finance, Radu Marian, proposes raising the ceiling of the annual revenues from sales from 100 to 500 million lei for one company to be classified as a small or medium enterprise. Thus, over 500 additional companies will be able to access the support programmes provided by the state and the European Union, including grants, subsidization of interests through the 373 Programme and credit guarantees.
“The majority of these companies are in high value-added sectors, such as industry, services, construction, or agriculture and have significant growth potential,” Marian said.
The second initiative concerns the amendment of Article 26 of the Public Procurement Law, so that state institutions can award additional points to bids from companies located near the delivery site. This measure will favor short supply chains and encourage the development of local production.
“The state in 2024 allocated over 17.3 billion lei for public procurement. This is an essential tool for our economy. We want to encourage environmentally friendly businesses and support the creation of local jobs,” the lawmaker noted.
The two initiatives are to be discussed in the concerned commissions and in parliament.
