Twelve million euros to be invested to ensure access to drinking water in rural areas of Moldova

Belgium will provide Moldova with a loan of 12 million euros, in order to improve access to drinking water for consumers in rural areas. The draft law on the ratification of the Loan Agreement was approved by the government today.

The funds will be used to install 85 water kiosk systems, which will ensure the supply of clean and safe drinking water for at least 55,000 people in the country's settlements.

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Vladimir Bolea said that the implementation of the project would have a significant impact on public health and would help reduce the risk of illness caused by the consumption of contaminated water.

“This is a very good project for our localities, which complements the authorities' efforts to ensure access to water and good living conditions, especially in our villages,” said Prime Minister Dorin Recean.

The Loan Agreement between the government of Moldova and the government of the Kingdom of Belgium for the implementation of the Decentralized Drinking Water Supply for Moldova Project was signed in Chisinau on June 23, this year.
