ARMENPRESS: Educational AI tools to become available in Armenian schools, universities from September
Educational AI tools will become available for upper grades of general education schools and the higher education system starting in September.
Armenian schools will receive relevant guidelines and videos to support their use, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan said at a press conference.
“This year will also be important for us because starting in September, educational artificial intelligence tools will become available on a large scale for the higher education and general education systems. In cooperation with Firebird and OpenAI, 50,000 subscriptions will become available, thanks to which upper grades of general education schools and the higher education system will have the opportunity to use educational artificial intelligence tools,” Andreasyan said.
She said it is important to emphasize that these are specifically educational tools.
“Everyone knows that there is ChatGPT, and there is the set of ChatGPT tools that is specifically designed to support artificial intelligence in educational processes. This set of tools will allow teachers to be freed from carrying out mechanical work and to focus on more creative work.
These tools can help with preparing various assignments and tests, and can help with thematic planning. And here I can say that both our principals and teachers will need significant support. Relevant guidelines and videos will also be provided in the near future, which will enable the education system to use this set of tools more effectively,” the minister said.
A major training process is also planned.
“We have planned a major training process, and by this we want to say that the education system must learn to engage with artificial intelligence, because it is a reality that has become part of our lives. We are confident that only informed and well-considered solutions can ensure that this set of tools serves the interests of quality education, rather than creating major challenges through it, which the education system is facing throughout the world today,” she said.
The minister also noted that projects being implemented with private partners in the field of artificial intelligence for several years will also be expanded this year.
“This makes it possible for us to carry out more targeted work in schools and open up opportunities for children in terms of career orientation,” Andreasyan concluded.
