The specialized international exhibitions MOLDAGROTECH and FARMER 2026 were inaugurated today at Moldexpo International Exhibition Center in Chișinău. The event is taking place over four days under the concept “The territory of the bountiful harvest” and brings together more than 400 participants showcasing agricultural machinery, equipment, plant protection products, fertilizers, and planting material. The organizers are focusing on farm modernization, reducing production costs, and strengthening cooperation among farmers, authorities, and the business community.
This year’s edition covers more than 10,000 square meters and includes two exhibition pavilions, where over 1,000 units of agricultural machinery and equipment are on display. Visitors can discover solutions for modernizing and streamlining agricultural activities, from the latest-generation tractors and agricultural drones to smart digital systems, plant protection products, fertilizers, planting material, and locally produced goods.
The opening ceremony was organized in an unconventional, tie-free format as a sign of solidarity with farmers who carry out their work in the fields. A central element of the event was a symbolic installation created with the support of DiazTech, which placed a vintage tractor alongside a modern one, illustrating the evolution of agricultural technologies.
Zinaida Popa, director of the Moldexpo International Exhibition Center said that agriculture needs new development tools capable of responding to technological and economic changes and contributing to increased productivity.
“Today we decided to hold a tie-free event, to stand in solidarity with the people who every day put on a trench coat or a sweater, put on their boots, and go to the fields. We are doing this not only for their benefit and not only for business, but for each of us, so that we have food on our tables. That is what matters, as well as ensuring that our economy develops,” Zinaida Popa said.
The Moldexpo director emphasized that agriculture is an important sector of the Republic of Moldova’s economy and that its development requires an integrated approach bringing together people, machinery, and modern solutions.
“We understand that today, in our times, we need to move forward in this area and introduce new agricultural tools that directly increase productivity. When we talk about agriculture, we are not talking only about agricultural machinery or only about people. We are talking about a concept in itself, which brings all these components together,” Zinaida Popa noted.
According to her, the exhibition was organized with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry and the participating companies. This year’s edition brings together more than 400 exhibitors and participants, while the exhibition area exceeds 10,000 square meters.
For his part, Vasile Șarban, State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry said that modernizing agriculture does not mean merely using more advanced tractors, but also increasing the economic efficiency of enterprises, reducing expenses, and strengthening competitiveness on regional and international markets.
The official explained that, as agricultural product prices are not rising at the same pace as fuel, spare parts, and agricultural machinery prices, farmers must identify solutions to reduce their production costs.
“It is about competitiveness, efficiency, and the ability to generate income within the enterprise. We observe that wheat and agricultural production in general are not benefiting from price increases in the same way as fuel, spare parts, and agricultural machinery. We all compete on the same market and must be competitive on regional, international, and global markets,” Vasile Șarban said.
According to the State Secretary, modern technologies can help reduce fuel consumption, use labor more efficiently, and decrease the waste of plant protection products and fertilizers. At the same time, choosing more productive varieties can contribute to better economic results.
“The entire effect lies in technology, the range of products, more productive varieties, reduced labor requirements, lower fuel consumption, and less waste of plant protection products or fertilizers. All these factors lead to lower costs. By reducing costs, we can be competitive on the market,” the official explained.
Vasile Șarban also drew attention to the balance between affordable food prices for consumers and the need for producers to recover their expenses.
“Bread must cost something, because it must be on everyone’s table and be affordable. On the other hand, it must cost enough for the agricultural producer to at least recover the expenses incurred each year in this activity,” the State Secretary said.
The representative of the Ministry of Agriculture noted that farmers’ participation in such exhibitions allows them to learn about new technological trends and identify suitable solutions for developing their businesses.
“The agricultural producer needs to know what is happening and the direction in which we are moving in terms of development and the future. The authorities, the Ministry of Agriculture, and its subordinate agencies need to know where technology is headed. Through our policies, the state must provide support and a helping hand to farmers so that they can equip their enterprises with modern technologies,” Vasile Șarban said.
In this context, the official encouraged cooperation between authorities and agricultural machinery suppliers so that the equipment offered on the market meets producers’ actual needs. He also mentioned the possibility of purchasing machinery through leasing, installments, or full payment, as well as accessing state support mechanisms provided through specialized institutions.
Sergiu Veșca, executive director of the National Farmers’ Federation of Moldova, emphasized that obtaining a bountiful harvest depends not only on machinery and investment, but also on how agricultural land is managed, producers’ decisions, state policies, and consumer demand.
“It is indeed a year with abundant yields, but these yields depend on many more factors than those we see here today. First of all, we have the land that we must take care of, because it is not only ours, but also belongs to our descendants and their descendants. There is the person who decides what to do with this land. There are technology and machinery, as well as state policies that set the direction in which we move and what we produce, but the most important are the consumers,” Sergiu Veșca said.
In his view, consumers influence the market through their purchasing decisions, while dialogue among producers, authorities, and buyers is necessary for agriculture to respond both to demand and to farmers’ economic capabilities.
“Consumers are the ones who come and vote with their money, earned through hard work, sweat, and effort. They do not give money for nothing, but for what they need. That is why we are here: to have a dialogue among the producer, the consumer, and the political factor that creates the conditions for us,” the executive director of the National Farmers’ Federation said.
Sergiu Veșca noted that the exhibition provides an opportunity for agricultural sector stakeholders to meet in one place and expressed hope that dialogue and cooperation would contribute to developing partnerships and achieving better results in the coming years.
Roman Braguța, representing DiazTech and DiazChim, also said that participating in MOLDAGROTECH offers an opportunity to communicate directly with farmers and identify the solutions needed to develop farms.
“It is a special event where we join forces for better communication and to send a clearer message to farmers: we stand by them as agriculture becomes more competitive, more dynamic, and more interesting,” Roman Braguța said.
The business representative said that investing in the team and engaging in the agricultural sector had been priorities for the company and reaffirmed its willingness to continue cooperating with farmers.
“For years, we have invested heavily in our team and have put a great deal of heart into the agriculture of the Republic of Moldova. DiazTech will always stand by you. We will be partners at MOLDAGROTECH for many years to come,” Roman Braguța said, inviting farmers to visit the company’s stand to discuss solutions tailored to their needs.
The opening ceremony concluded with a symbolic moment during which Moldexpo director Zinaida Popa, State Secretary Vasile Șarban, executive director of the National Farmers’ Federation Sergiu Veșca, and the representative of DiazTech and DiazChim, Roman Braguța, each poured a measure of wheat into a common vessel.
The gesture illustrated each party’s contribution to the development of the agricultural sector and the importance of cooperation in achieving sustainable results.
“Every harvest begins with a grain. One grain may seem like little, but together with thousands of others, it becomes a harvest. It is also the right symbol for what we want to build through ‘The Territory of the Bountiful Harvest.’ Each person brings their experience, work, ideas, and resources, and together we can create something great,” Zinaida Popa noted.
Subsequently, the starting of the engines of the tractors included in the exhibition installation marked the official opening of the autumn edition of the MOLDAGROTECH and FARMER 2026 exhibitions.
Over the four days, farmers and other visitors can examine suppliers’ offers, identify solutions for modernizing farms, discuss machinery purchase conditions, and establish new business partnerships.
The exhibitions are organized by the Moldexpo International Exhibition Center in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry and aim to facilitate the exchange of experience and farmers’ access to technologies, equipment, and solutions for business development.
