Crossing of state border at Leuseni-Albita Moldovan-Romanian checkpoint is to take place according to one stop principle
Chisinau, 1 February /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet today approved the signing of an agreement between the governments of Moldova and Romania on coordinated control on the territory of Romania, at the Leuseni-Albita border crossing point in the direction of entering Romania.
According to the government’s communication and protocol department, the agreement will contribute to the facilitation of the crossing of the common border, by carrying out a coordinated control of the traffic, based on the ‘’one stop’’ principle. This will shorten the waiting time at the frontier’s crossing, including for the transport of goods. At the same time, the document’s enforcement will help ensure the security at the Moldovan-Romanian border – an important segment of the European Union’s external border; ensure the national security, through the consolidation of the efforts in the prevention and counteraction of the cross-border criminality and, not in least, it will serve as a solution to de-block the logistic chain, given the crisis triggered by the war in Ukraine.
The agreement will be valid for a six-month period and subsequently the sides will establish its extension, based on a joint assessment of the control system’s results. The prolongation of the validity will be made by diplomatic means. The Agreement’s enforcement can be temporarily, fully or partially suspended by any of the sides, for reasons of national security, public order or public health.
