12 polling stations for 360,000 citizens

12 polling stations for the parliamentary elections for citizens from the left bank of the Dniester will be located in 10 localities. One will be opened in Chișinău, and the rest along the perimeter of the security zone, including Gura Bâcului, Hagimus, Copanca, Cocieri, Doroțcaia, Sănătăuca and Răscăieți. Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Roman Roșca made the statement today.

The Deputy Prime Minister urged the residents from the left bank of the Dniester to participate in the elections "with confidence and responsibility," assuring that the electoral process will be free, democratic and fair.

According to estimates, about 360,000 citizens eligible to vote reside in the region, but the average participation in the last elections was about 30,000 people. In this context, the 12 stations will enable the distribution of around 36,000 ballots, which, according to authorities is sufficient to cover the estimated need.

The official also mentioned that criticisms regarding the reduced number of polling stations are not new and arise every time the Republic of Moldova organizes elections or makes important decisions, but the authorities will ensure compliance with national legislation and access for all voters.

According to the Reintegration Policy Office, eligible voters from localities located on the left bank of the Dniester, Bender, as well as from Chițcani commune and the villages of Cremenciug and Gîsca (Căușeni district), which are temporarily outside constitutional control will participate in the parliamentary elections on 28 September 2025.

According to statistics, less than 30,000 voters from the Transnistrian region participated in snap polls of 2021, and about 26,000 - in the presidential elections of 2024. During the period, the number of opened stations also decreased – from 41 in 2021 to just 30 in 2024.
