CEC: Public appeal to organizations involved in parliamentary election monitoring
The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has made a public appeal to all organizations involved in the monitoring of the parliamentary elections on 28 September. They are encouraged to 'address the drafting of reports and public communication of observations with maximum responsibility'.
'We understand the complexity of monitoring activities and appreciate the civil society's effort to contribute to the transparency of the electoral process. This is why it is essential for monitoring reports to be based on documented facts, directly observed, and to adhere to international standards and methodological rules governing this type of activity,' announced the CEC.
The appeal comes after in recent days, an analysis was brought to the public's attention which, according to the CEC, 'contains formulations that can generate erroneous interpretations or do not correspond to factual reality.'
'We reiterate that opinions expressed in the public space should not be confused with the results of an objective and rigorous monitoring process. Such confusions can affect public perception and damage trust in the integrity of the electoral process,' emphasized the CEC.
Additionally, the CEC expressed openness to collaborate with all organizations willing to undertake the responsibility of observing the elections and is ready to provide support, information and necessary clarifications for the proper conduct of monitoring activities.
'At the same time, we appeal for caution and accuracy in the public presentation of findings. Avoiding subjective or unfounded interpretations is in everyone's interest, including voters, democratic institutions, and observers. We want a transparent, fair, and credible electoral process, and this objective can only be achieved through a common effort based on rigor, professionalism, and mutual respect,' concluded the CEC.
On 28 September 2025, parliamentary elections will be held in the Republic of Moldova.
