Moldovan Central Electoral Commission registers initiative group for collecting signatures to initiate local referendum

The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today registered an initiative group, consisting of 20 people, for collecting signatures to initiate a local referendum regarding on recall of the mayor of the village of Hasnasenii Mari, northern Drochia district.

According to the CEC's decision, the group will collect, by January 30, 2026, signatures from at least 10 per cent of the eligible voters residing in the village of Hasnasenii Mari, Drochia district, which amounts to 123 signatures out of the total 1,226 voters, according to the data from December 1, 2025.

At the same meeting, the Commission also confirmed the leader of the initiative group.
