Prime Minister announces speeding up reforms after discussions with European Commission

Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu stated at the beginning of the Cabinet meeting that the Republic of Moldova is on track with fulfilling its commitments in the European integration and announced the acceleration of the reform process.

The official thanked the Parliament and the Presidency for enacting amendments to the state budget, highlighting that the Government is prepared to proceed to discussions regarding next year's budget.

Referring to the European Commission's evaluation, Munteanu mentioned that European officials confirmed the progress made by the authorities, with only a few minor exceptions. The Prime Minister announced that December will be a decisive month in which state institutions will accelerate their efforts to eliminate all identified shortcomings.

“We are capable of addressing these deficiencies. I thank the colleagues who have worked hard in this process. Even last night, I spoke with Mr. Koopman, who conveyed appreciation for the very constructive discussions,” Munteanu declared.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the Government will continue the close dialogue with European partners, reaffirming the Republic of Moldova’s strong commitment to advancing on the path towards EU integration.

The progress made in implementing the Agenda of Reforms for the second semester of this year was analyzed yesterday at a monitoring session for the implementation of the Growth Plan for Moldova. The discussions included Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu, Cabinet members, and the delegation of the European Commission, led by Gert Jan Koopman, Director-General for Enlargement and Eastern Neighborhood (DG ENEST).

At the session, the Prime Minister announced that some planned measures have already been fully completed and included in the first semi-annual report. Others are in the process of implementation, targeting the energy, economic, labor, and environmental sectors. Based on the results, the preparation of the second semi-annual report will begin in the coming days. The progress in implementing the actions of the Growth Plan allows for the unblocking of European funds and new investments in beneficial projects for citizens.

The Growth Plan supported by the European Union is the most extensive and ambitious financial support package in the history of the Republic of Moldova, amounting to 1.9 billion euros. It offers a unique opportunity to boost economic growth and improve citizens' living standards.
