
Head of Anticorruprtion Prosecutor's Office appointed
Chisinau, 22 April /MOLDPRES – Viorel Morari has been appointed head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office. The members of the Superior Council of Prosecutors (CSP) announced the decision today.
The office of head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office remained vacant since July 2015, when Eduard Harunjen was appointed first deputy prosecutor general.
Viorel Morari, 38, has worked as head of the department for managing the criminal investigation in the central bodies of the Customs Office and Interior Ministry within the Prosecutor General’s Office.
Morari started his career in Prosecution bodies in 2002. He held more posts at the prosecutor’s office of the northern Donduseni district, and in July 2012 – July 2013, he worked as acting Anticorruption Prosecutor. Presently, Viorel Morari holds the degree of classification – first-rank legal adviser.
Also today, CSP proposed to appoint prosecutor Eduard Florea as prosecutor of the western Ungheni district for the second mandate. Alexandru Rata was put up for the post of prosecutor of the central Straseni district for the second mandate too.
Subsequently, the CSP rulings will be submitted to the acting Prosecutor General, for the legalization of investitures or, if necessary, for a grounded rejection of the candidacies put forward.
Under legislation, the appointment of prosecutors to office is made by the Prosecutor General, at a proposal by the Superior Council of Prosecutors for a five-year mandate. The exercising of the aforementioned offices at the same prosecutor’s office cannot exceed two mandates in a row.
