Speaker on European Council's decision

Speaker Igor Grosu said today that the European Council's decision, which reiterated support for Moldova's European path on Thursday, is an unprecedented recognition of our country's efforts and an important signal that Moldova enjoys the full support of all 27 EU member states.

“The leaders of the 27 EU member states reiterated, during the European Council meeting, the strong support of the European Union for Moldova's European path. They congratulated our country for the pace of accession reforms and invited the Council to move to the next stage in the negotiation process, namely the opening of the first group of chapters on fundamental values,” said Grosu.

He said that the European Council's decision is an unprecedented recognition of our country's efforts and an important signal that on our European path, Moldova enjoys the full support of all 27 EU member states.

“Congratulations to us, all Moldovans, wherever we are. Let's continue to work with greater determination and be the generation that brings Moldova into the great European family. Congratulations!” concluded Igor Grosu.

The 27 EU leaders reiterated in the final declaration of the European Council strong support for Moldova's European path and invited the Council to move to the next stage in the negotiation process, emphasizing that Moldova is prepared to open the first group of chapters regarding fundamental values.

The decision was welcomed by head of state Maia Sandu, who expressed appreciation for the recognition of our country's progress in the reform process and stated that Moldova remains committed to building a European future for all Moldovan citizens.
