Moldovan parliament to convene at plenary meeting on March 21; denunciation of Agreement on Founding of Commonwealth of Independent States on agenda

The parliament on March 20 will convene at a plenary meeting. At the meeting, the  MPs will examine, in first reading, the denunciation of the Agreement on the Establishment and the Statute of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The agenda of the meeting was approved today by the Standing Bureau.

Also in first reading, the lawmakers will discuss the draft law on value-added tax and excise duties applicable in localities in the east of Moldova. The agenda also includes legislative initiatives concerning short supply chains for agri-food products, drafted by a group of MPs of the Action and Solidarity Party faction and the Democracy at Home faction.

Amendments to the Law on the State Protection and Guard Service will likewise be examined, as well as the document concerning the way of technical and material support and other operational aspects of certain administrative authorities subordinated to the Interior Ministry (MAI).

At the plenary meeting due on March 20, the MPs will consider, in first reading, the ratification of more international treaties: the Agreement with Ukraine on cooperation in the repatriation of unaccompanied children to their habitual place of residence, signed in Kyiv on February 10, 2026, and the Protocol amending the Convention for the Protection of Individuals with regard to Automatic Processing of Personal Data, signed in Strasbourg on February 9, 2023. The lawmakers will also examine the draft law on Moldova’s accession to the Convention on Limitation of Liability for Maritime Claims and to the 1996 Protocol amending it.

The MPs will also debate, in second reading, the draft law on the costs of judicial expertise and the legislative initiative regulating the activity of real estate agents.

According to the parliament’s communication and public relations department, the Standing Bureau has ruled to reschedule to April 2, 2026, the debate on the simple motion regarding the public policies implemented by the Labour and Social Protection Ministry in the field of demographic policy, the prevention and reduction of poverty and the compensation of energy resource costs.

The March 20 meeting will start at 11:00.
