Moldovan PM, at his first cabinet meeting, says challenges great, work must be carried out with integrity, courage
The challenges are great, and the new cabinet of ministers must work with integrity and courage, in order to deliver results and live up to citizens’ expectations. Prime Minister Vasile Tofan today conveyed a message to this effect at the beginning of the first meeting of the new government.
“It is an important day. I believe we all feel a bit of emotion. It is human. But I hope this will only motivate us to work more, with more energy and, most importantly, to live up to people’s expectations, which are very high. Since this is the first meeting of this government, in this composition, I want, on behalf of the whole team, to thank the members of parliament who supported us. It is a major vote of confidence. Overall, it is a vote on credit that we must repay through achievements. And I also want to thank those in the opposition, as they too represent people who voted. They had multiple criticisms, we listened to them very carefully, we took notes, and I think we have things to learn there as well. We must also listen to those who criticize us. I want to thank you for the courage to continue, the courage to join, because some of you are new. Many already describe us as a kamikaze cabinet. I see us as a brave cabinet, one that is not afraid to assume responsibility, even in a complicated situation. Let us acknowledge that it is a complicated situation. Let us acknowledge that the challenges are great. All we can do is work and do it with integrity and courage,” Vasile Tofan said at the beginning of the government meeting.
The new cabinet of ministers, led by Prime Minister Vasile Tofan, today took the oath of office at the Presidency of Moldova, before Head of State Maia Sandu and Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu. The ceremony took place after, on July 21 evening, the parliament had given a vote of confidence to the Tofan government and approved the governing programme, European economy, efficient state.
