Over 21 million trips by Moldovans to EU recorded after visa liberalisation
Over 21 million trips by citizens of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union have been recorded since the liberalisation of the visa regime, Speaker Igor Grosu said at the beginning of today’s plenary session.
“At 28 April, it was 12 years since the moment when the European Union abolished the visa regime for short‑term trips by citizens of the Republic of Moldova to the Schengen Area,” said Igor Grosu.
The Speaker highlighted the magnitude of the mobility of Moldovan citizens within the European area during this period.
“From 28 April 2014 until now, over 2.7 million citizens of the Republic of Moldova have benefited from this regime, with almost 21 million trips to the European Union being recorded,” Grosu said.
In this context, the official urged citizens to value the benefits of this regime.
“More than ever, it is important to cherish this freedom and to continue talking about the advantages of belonging to the great European family, because this family means freedom of movement, peace, prosperity and democracy,” Grosu underlined.
“We must cherish this freedom,” concluded the Speaker.
