Polling stations in Japan, China closed; over 170,000 citizens vote abroad by 16:00

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) has announced that the polling stations in Japan and China completed their activities. Citizens continue to exercise their right to vote at the remaining polling stations abroad.

“As of 16:00 the polling station in Tokyo, Japan has closed, and the one in China has recently completed its activities as well. The other stations continue their operations,” MAE said.

At the same time, the authorities have announced the unhindered opening of polling stations on the east coast of the North American continent.

“We welcome the unprecedented mobilization of Moldovans abroad, especially as some make impressive efforts to exercise their right to vote,” said MAE.

According to the Central Election Commission, by 16:00, over 170,000 Moldovan citizens abroad have exercised their right to vote.

In total, 301 polling stations have been established abroad for the 2025 election, four of which are meant for mail voting.
