Strict rules for electoral period

The electoral period comes with clear rules for all public actors, and the Government treats this legal framework with the utmost responsibility and will act as an example of compliance with the law. Government spokesperson Daniel Vodă made the statement today.

The official mentioned that ministers, state secretaries, and other dignitaries who intend to actively participate in elections will step down from their positions in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Code when the electoral campaign begins, that is, after August 28.

“The Government acts responsibly: strict rules for the electoral period. Until August 28, we are in the electoral period, a stage that entails clear rules for all public actors, including here at the Government. The Cabinet of Ministers treats this legal framework with the utmost responsibility and will act as an example of compliance with the law. Ministers, state secretaries, and other dignitaries who intend to actively participate in elections will step down from their positions in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Code when the electoral campaign begins, that is, after August 28,” stated Daniel Vodă.

According to the official, those engaged in political activities will also strictly adhere to the rules without using administrative resources, without engaging in such activities during working hours, and without overlapping public office with political activity during the electoral campaign.

“This is a period in which we must strengthen citizens' trust in the integrity of the electoral process. Respect for the law begins with state institutions, and the Government will set the tone for this good conduct,” he said.

On September 28, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova are expected to go to the polls to elect deputies to the future Parliament. The electoral period for the parliamentary election began on July 14, and the electoral campaign will be launched on August 29.
