Former security minister of Moldova passes away
Chisinau, 31 December /MOLDPRES/ – Former Minister of National Security, Tudor Botnaru, died on 30 December 2017 at age of 83.
The mournful family has announced that farewell to him to take place at church Sfanta Teodora de la Sihla (Saint Teodora from Sihla) on 01 January 2018, at 17:00. The funerals will take place on 02 January at the central cemetery on street Armeneasca in Chisinau.
Teodor Botnaru was born on 16 February 1934 in village Lipceni, Rezina district. He was appointed to the state security bodies in 1963. In 1994 – 1997, he fulfilled the mission of the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Moldova to Belgium, as well as the head of the diplomatic mission of Moldova to the Council of Europe.
In 1997 – 1998, Tudor Botnaru held the position of Minister of National Security, being a member of the Supreme Security Council. In March 1997, President, Petru Lucinschi, awarded him the military rank of division general.
