Another about 5,500 families benefited from vouchers to purchase new household appliances
Another 5,448 families from the Republic of Moldova benefited from vouchers worth 7,000 lei to purchase energy-efficient refrigerators or washing machines. The support was provided through the Household Appliance Voucher Program (EcoVoucher), implemented with the support of the Government.
The session took place between October 13 and November 1, 2026, during which 8,120 vouchers were distributed. The nominal value of a voucher was 7,000 lei, covering up to 70% of the equipment's price, including VAT.
During the session, beneficiaries purchased 2,367 refrigerators and 3,081 Class A washing machines. For each new appliance purchased, beneficiaries handed over a used appliance of the same type for recycling.
According to the National Center for Sustainable Energy (CNED), the unused budget from this session will be used to grant vouchers during a new session.
CNED Director Ion Muntean said that the EcoVoucher Program is another mechanism through which the Government supports vulnerable families in reducing their energy bills sustainably.
“The program gives them the opportunity to replace old household appliances with energy-efficient ones, so that the support translates into lower consumption and savings that are maintained over time,” said Ion Muntean.
CNED data show that the vouchers were distributed as a priority to families with the largest number of minor children (70% of the allocated vouchers) and households where at least two people over the age of 63 live (20% of the allocated vouchers). At the same time, 10% of the total number of available vouchers were reserved for people with severe disabilities. The support reached 3,921 households with minor children, 969 households in the pensioner category, and 558 households where people with severe disabilities live.
According to specialists’ estimates, the appliances purchased by beneficiary households will generate estimated annual savings of approximately 1.16 million kWh of electricity, equivalent to about 4.3 million lei. These savings correspond to an estimated reduction in greenhouse gas emissions of approximately 580 tons of CO₂ per year.
The Household Appliance Voucher Program (EcoVoucher) was developed by the Government of the Republic of Moldova with financial support from the European Union and is implemented by the National Center for Sustainable Energy in cooperation with the Ministry of Energy. The current edition of the Program is financed from the state budget.
Since the program was launched, more than 48,000 families have benefited from the EcoVoucher program. They have purchased 23,000 refrigerators and 25,000 washing machines. The appliances purchased generate annual savings of approximately 10.3 million kWh of electricity, equivalent to around 38 million lei, and contribute to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 5,150 tons per year.
