
Moldovan soldiers deployed to EUFOR ALTHEA started mission
Chisinau, Oct. 8 /MOLDPRES/- First contingent of the National Army deployed to EUFOR ALTHEA in Bosnia and Herzegovina has started mission.
The inauguration took place during an official ceremony at Camp Butmir base in Sarajevo, where the State Flag of the Republic of Moldova was hoisted.
The 19 soldiers of the National Army will be part of the Romanian contingent, which for six months will carry out security and guarding of objectives as well as patrolling in the area of responsibility.
The EUFOR ALTHEA mission will last 12 months. Logistical support will be provided by the Romanian contingent.
The European Union's EUFOR ALTHEA in Bosnia and Herzegovina was established in 2004 and is tasked with maintaining a secure and stable environment, cooperating fully with the country's armed forces and civilian authorities. Currently, 22 countries are present in EUFOR ALTHEA.
