
Pensions to be indexed by 13.94% from 1 April
Chisinau, March 17 / MOLDPRES /- From 1 April, the pension index will be calculated on the basis of the inflation rate at the end of the year and will be 13.94%. The draft amendment to the Law on the public pension system was approved today by the final reading deputies.
According to the document, in the case of indexation in April, the indexation coefficient could be applied only to the part of the pension that does not exceed the average salary in the economy forecast for 2022. For the current year it is 9900 lei.
The implementation of the partial indexation for pensions higher than the average salary per economy will release funds from the State Social Insurance Budget amounting to 72 million lei, in 2022.
According to official data, only 1.3% of all pensions are higher than the average salary in the economy for the current year: out of the 665 thousand pensions, in payment, 9190 exceed this ceiling.
