
First candidates for Gagauz governor passed Gagauz language exam
Chisinau, March 7. /MOLDPRES/- In Comrat, the linguistic commission has begun its work, which will assess the knowledge of the Gagauz language, a mandatory condition for the registration of candidates for the position of governor of Gagauzia. Yesterday, this exam was taken by the first two candidates.
The testing is organized by a special linguistic commission, which includes PhD in philology and Gagauz language teachers.
Based on the answers, the committee decided that both passed the exam.
The exam for knowledge of the Gagauz language takes place according to an amendment included in the Electoral Regulation of the autonomy, in 2015.
The bashkan elections will be held on April 30. The governor is the supreme official of Gagauzia. All the authorities of the public administration of the autonomy are subordinated to the bashkan. Governor elections are held once every four years. The current governor, Irina Vlah, cannot run because she held the position for two terms.
