Chisinau, 2 November /MOLDPRES/- The leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA) visited a branch of a network of stores in the country yesterday to monitor trade activities in compliance with the 50% shelf share of domestic products.

Minister Viorel Gherciu together with State Secretary Vasile Șarban discussed with store's representatives to analyze the tools to support local producers and the mechanisms for contracting suppliers. The parties also noted the need to intensify cooperation between economic agents and national and international trade chains present in our country, in order to meet the consumption needs of citizens.

„The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry is oriented towards increasing the quality and competitiveness of local agri-food products. We are focused on strengthening the capacities to identify and promote the interests of local producers and we want local goods to be accessible on store shelves. At the same time, the local producers must acquire a set of skills to enter the market ", said Viorel Gherciu.

According to the official, local products must meet the essential requirements of quality and packaging, respecting the rules in the processes of production, labeling, storage and delivery. "In carrying out economic activities, it is necessary for food producers and processors to know and comply with contractual conditions, as well as to apply marketing strategies and information tools to quantify consumer needs," he said.
