Chisinau, 3 August /MOLDPRES/- Departed actor and director Ion Ungureanu, ex-minister of Culture and Cults, deputy in the first Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, winner of the National Award, holder of the Order of the Republic, People's Artist would have turned 86 yesterday.
Ion Ungureanu was born in 1935 in the village of Opaci, Causeni district. After graduating from high school in Causeni, he studied at the Faculty of Philology of the Pedagogical Institute Ion Creanga in Chisinau (1952-1955), in 1955-1960 - at the Higher Theater School Boris Schukin in Moscow, after which he attended Courses directed by the Institute of Cinematographic Art A. V. Lunacearski from Moscow (1963-1964).
After graduating in acting, he became an actor and director at the Republican Theater for Children and Youth Luceafărul (1960-1972). He also held the position of director of the Luceafărul Theater (1964-1971).
Ion Ungureanu passed away on 28 January 2017 in Bucharest, buried with military honors at the Central Cemetery in Armenească Street in Chisinau.
