Ethnicities' Festival marks 25th edition: 24 ethnic groups to showcase traditions in Chisinau
Traditions, national costumes, handicrafts, gastronomy and music will enliven the Stephen the Great and Holy Public Garden on September 20, which will host the 25th edition of the Ethnicities’ Festival, with the subject, Unity in Diversity. The event will bring together 45 ethnocultural organizations representing 24 ethnic groups, which will showcase their heritage in 30 ethnic courtyards.
The schedule will start at 10:00 with a flower-laying ceremony at the monument to Stephen the Great and Holy, while the official opening will take place at 10:30, featuring the Camerata Chisinau Orchestra and the Doina Choral Chapel.
Starting from 11:00, the public will be able to visit the ethnic courtyards and take part in performances, exhibitions, workshops and interactive activities. The schedule will also include the MOSAIC COURTYARD, which will host the fourth edition of the MOSAIC – Cultures for Positive Peace event, featuring activities dedicated to intercultural dialogue.
„The Ethnicities Festival is built together with the ethnic communities. For the 25th edition, we want every visitor to discover not only the traditions of the different ethnic groups, but also the people who preserve and pass them on,” said Veaceslav Reabcinschi, director of the Interethnic Relations Agency.
Events dedicated to ethnic diversity are being organized throughout September in more localities of Moldova, through festivals, performances, exhibitions and workshops.
