Philately exhibition inaugurated at Chisinau-based museum
Chisinau, 1 December /MOLDPRES/ - The Association of Philatelists, Maximaphilists and Cartophilists from Moldova, in cooperation with the National Ethnography and Natural History Museum and the Posta Moldovei (Moldova’s Post) state enterprise, today inaugurated an anniversary philately exhibition titled, Thirty years since the first philately exhibition Chisinau-Sibiu.
At the event, the head of the aforementioned Association, Constantin Gh. Ciobanu, said the exhibition’s goal was to promote the generally human values. Visitors were presented a less known segment of the native cultural areal, in order to familiarize them with the role of the postage stamps in popularizing certain achievements, got nationally and internationally.
According to Ciobanu, in 1990, Bessarabian collectors established cooperation relations with colleagues from Romania, especially with the Association of Philatelists from the Sibiu county. As a result, the first philately exhibition Chisinau-Sibiu was opened at the headquarters of the National History Museum of Moldova on 1 December 1991 and a special stamp marking this event was applied at the post office Chisinau 277012. During years, Moldovan philatelists participated in exhibitions in Bucharest, Bacau and other cities of Romania.
For his part, the director of the National Ethnography and Natural History Museum, Petru Vicol, stressed that the organization of this exhibition was not only an action of promoting the native postage stamp, but also a cultural activity, of informing and popularizing, on the such accessible way of image of values and achievements, got nationally.
The exhibition comprises pieces collected by philatelists from Moldova and Romania and will be opened till 15 December.
