Honorary Consulate of Moldova inaugurated in Baia Mare, Romania

An Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Moldova was inaugurated yesterday in Baia Mare, Romania. President of Maramureș Chamber of Commerce and Industry Florentin-Nicolae Tuș has become the first Honorary Consul of our country in the city.

Attending the event were Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Bucharest Victor Chirilă and counselor in charge of consular affairs Eugen Rusu, officials, businessmen, members of the academic environment and Moldovan students' community from the western part of Maramureș county.

Florentin-Nicolae Tuș thanked for the trust in this important mandate for the development of Moldovan-Romanian relations.

“With great joy and utmost responsibility I have taken on the mission of honorary consul of the Republic of Moldova in Baia Mare. My appointment to this position by His Excellency Victor Chirilă - Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Romania represented a historic moment for our city, for Maramureș County, and for the diplomatic relations between Romania and Moldova,” highlighted Florentin-Nicolae Tuș.

The Consular Office opened in Baia Mare is the first Honorary Consulate in Maramureș county.

Also, the officials reiterated the desire to step up the presence of the Republic of Moldova in Maramureș County by strengthening and expanding investments and businesses of our country, as well as boosting cooperation between educational institutions, communities and cultural environments.
