Moldovans settled in Ireland to benefit from social guarantees

Irish authorities are willing to initiate the necessary procedures, in order to draft an agreement with Moldova in the field of social security, as well as to extend bilateral cooperation in areas of common interest. Statements to this effect have been made at a farewell meeting of Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popsoi with the Bucharest-based Ambassador of Ireland to Moldova Brendan Ward, at the end of his term.

According to a press release by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two officials welcomed the progress in bilateral dialogue and expressed openness for new initiatives, including launching negotiations on the conversion of driving licenses and boosting cooperation in the social protection sector.

“Moldova enjoys increased attention on behalf Ireland and the Irish government's decision last year to open an embassy in Chisinau shows the commitment to deepen our bilateral relations. We look forward to the official opening of the new diplomatic mission on the next period,” said Minister Mihai Popsoi.

The Moldovan diplomacy head expressed appreciation for the work of Ambassador Brendan Ward and for the support provided in promoting the European agenda of   Moldova. The official highlighted that the bilateral dialogue had become increasingly dynamic in recent years, reflecting a strengthened cooperation and increased openness on behalf of Irish authorities.

Mihai Popsoi expressed his belief that Moldovan-Irish relations would gain new momentum with the opening of the Irish Embassy in Chisinau, which will consolidate the diplomatic presence and institutional cooperation between the two countries.
