Moldovan deputy parliament speaker says Moldova international example in gender equity
Moldova ranks seventh in the Global Gender Equality Index 2025, surpassing such countries as Germany, Ireland and Sweden. At the European level, Moldova is on the sixth position, marking significant progress in promoting gender equity between women and men. Deputy Parliament Speaker Doina Gherman has made statements to this effect in the beginning of the plenary meeting.
According to the cited source, the ranking shows Moldova's firm commitments to promoting women's rights, equal opportunities and equal participation in public and professional life.
“This result is recognized internationally as a reflection of the sustained reforms and efforts in the fields of justice, education, health and political involvement,” said Gherman.
The deputy speaker conveyed a message of appreciation to the women of Moldova:
“I want to thank all the extraordinary women of our country, who have shown courage, strength and exceptional capabilities in supporting peace, justice, human rights, equity and gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls, in all their diversity – often with great personal risk and sacrifice,” said the cited source.
Gherman emphasized that this success confirmed that Moldova is on the right path and must confidently continue promoting the democratic and inclusive values.
