Economic development minister says Moldova takes concrete steps towards modern economy, strategic investments, entrepreneurs' support, tax regime for freelancers
The Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization (MDED) continues reforms aimed at a deep transformation of the Moldovan economy. According to Minister Doina Nistor, the key goals stay clear: reducing bureaucracy through digitalization, supporting entrepreneurship and attracting investments in strategic sectors.
"We already have solid foundations at the ministry, and first and foremost, we continue what was started. We emphasize smart bureaucracy, digitalization and efficient policies to support small and large companies", said Doina Nistor at show on the public broadcaster Radio Moldova today.
According to the minister, one of the concrete steps in this direction is doubling the funds available through the non-reimbursable financing programmes of the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development (ODA), meant to encourage local entrepreneurs to develop and create jobs. At the same time, a state aid programme for medium and large investments directed at strategic areas has been launched and operationalized.
"We have already signed the first investment contracts with local entrepreneurs for cement factories, agro-processing and construction materials in more districts of the country. We see real interest in development", noted Nistor.
Another major novelty is the creation of a special tax regime for freelancers, currently in its second reading in parliament. This regime provides for a single 15-per cent tax and aims to legalize and support the economy based on independent services, offering young people the opportunity to work comfortably from Moldova.
Meanwhile, the ministry is laying the groundwork for a flagship technology park – Moldova Hightech Park – regulated by a special law, which will become an attraction hub for innovative companies and will stimulate the development of the IT sector and the creative industry.
"We are moving from a cost-based economy to one centered on added value, competitiveness and innovation. We have a clear vision: a Moldova that creates, exports intelligence and develops on long-term", emphasized Doina Nistor.
These initiatives are part of a broader strategy to bring Moldova closer to European economic standards, also strengthened through increasingly close partnerships with the European Union, recently discussed at the Moldova-EU summit.
