Romania launches project to support local public administration in Moldova

Moldova continues to receive direct support on behalf of Romania for its local and European development. A project titled, Assistance in Field of Local Public Administration in Moldova, was launched in Balti today. The project funded by the government of Romania through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, via RoAid – the Romanian Agency for International Development, and implemented by the Association of Public Administrators in Romania (AAPRO), with the support of the Romanian Embassy in Chisinau.

During a week, Romanian experts and public administrators will participate in visits and training sessions in six mayoralties of Moldova. The aim is to transfer expertise in attracting external funds, sustainable development, and the application of best practices in local administration, within at a seminar titled, Smart Communities: Funding Opportunities and Challenges in Local Communities from Romania and Moldova.

The topics addressed include the implementation of European projects, modernization of public infrastructure, cross-border cooperation and strengthening twinning partnerships between settlements of the two countries.

"This initiative reaffirms Romania's commitment to supporting the European way of Moldova, directly contributing to the increase of local administrative capacity and the improvement of citizens' quality of life," says the Romanian Embassy in Chisinau.
