New air connection between France and Moldova: direct Paris Orly – Chisinau flight

The first direct flight between Paris Orly and Chișinău, operated by the French company Transavia, the low-cost subsidiary of the Air France-KLM group, was officially launched today. The inauguration event took place at Paris Orly Airport, in the presence of officials from both countries.

The ceremony was attended by Moldova’s Ambassador to France Corina Calugaru, French Minister Delegate for Europe Benjamin Haddad, as well as Marie-José Allemand, a member of the National Assembly and President of the France – Moldova Friendship Group.

“We are proud to provide this new connection between France and Moldova. This is part of our goal to expand the network to new markets and to foster cultural exchanges between our countries,” stated Nicolas Henin, Deputy CEO of Transavia France.

For his part, Benjamin Haddad emphasized the importance of the connection. “This direct route not only facilitates the personal connections of citizens, but also marks a new stage in strengthening the economic, cultural and tourist relations between France and Moldova,” Haddad said.

“This initiative is the result of a joint effort that began in March 2024 and is an important step for the Moldovan Diaspora from France and for promoting Moldova as a tourist and business destination,” said Corina Calugaru.

The direct Paris Orly – Chisinau flight meets the growing demand from the Moldovan community established in France and also aims to develop commercial and tourist connections between the two countries. The route is part of Transavia France's strategy to expand into Eastern Europe.
