Parliament ratified financing agreement for implementation of project Energy Efficiency in Moldova

Chisinau, 31 March /MOLDPRES/- Parliament adopted today in first reading a draft ratification of financing agreement between Moldova and European Investment Bank (EIB) for implementation of the Energy Efficiency in the Republic of Moldova Project.

The contract provides for the granting of 30 million euros to increase energy efficiency in public institutions, primarily to those for social purposes: hospitals, kindergartens, schools.

The document also provides for the exemption from VAT, excise duties, payment of customs duties and other taxes on the import or purchase of goods, works, services for the implementation of the Project Energy Efficiency in the Republic of Moldova.

The total value of the project is EUR 75.5 million, including the two loans - from the EIB and the EBRD and the grant component. The project will be carried out in two stages, the implementation duration is planned for 2022-2025, and the final list of beneficiaries will be approved by the Coordinating Committee for the implementation of the Project.
