Regional stabilization leads to fuel price drops in Moldova

After a period of sharp increases, fuel prices are starting to decline in the Republic of Moldova, following a relative stabilization of the geopolitical situation in the Middle East, according to the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE).

According to ANRE, Platts quotations, a benchmark indicator in the international petroleum products market, currently show a clear downward trend. This directly affects domestic market prices, contributing to the reduction of tariffs for standard gasoline and diesel fuel.

“June was marked by a significant price increase: +4.0% for COR 95 gasoline; +11.2% for standard diesel, compared to the end of May. However, starting from July, prices are gradually returning to levels prior to the crisis onset. Thus, for the following three days (07/05/2025–07/07/2025), ANRE has set the following maximum retail prices for standard petroleum products: 23.27 lei/liter for COR 95 gasoline (a decrease of 0.15 lei compared to the previous day); 20.21 lei/liter for standard diesel (a decrease of 0.17 lei),” explains ANRE.

The current reduction comes in the context of a slight regional easing and the stabilization of transport and delivery flows in the Middle East – a crucial area for international crude oil trade. Such changes provide relief for consumers and economic operators affected by recent market volatility.

ANRE urges drivers to periodically consult the officially displayed prices and seek information from verified sources regarding the evolution of the oil market.
