VIDEO // More than half of necessary poles for Vulcănești–Chișinău line erected

More than half of the poles needed for Vulcănești–Chișinău high-voltage overhead power line have been erected, and the first kilometers of conductors have been installed. Thus, up to now, the project is about 76% completed.

The Vulcănești-Chișinău power line will have a length of 157 kilometers. Thus, over 500 poles and 1500 kilometers of conductors will create a strategic link between the south and the center, intersecting eight districts and 35 localities.

Depending on the energy system regime, the line can ensure the transit of a flow of up to 630 MVA of power, which could satisfy the need for 50% of the energy consumption during peak consumption periods.

The construction of Vulcănești-Chișinău power line is a project of strategic importance for the energy security of our country. The new power line will enable the transport of electricity from Romania or other European markets to Chișinău without passing through the Moldovan power plant located in the Transnistrian region.

The construction works of Vulcănești-Chișinău line effectively began in April 2024 and are part of the Power System Development Project, financed by the World Bank Group. Its value is 61 million euros, of which about 27 million euros are for the construction of the line.
