Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu today made a working visit to the Chisinau Station’s construction site, where modernization is progressing on schedule. According to the project managers, the physical progress of the works has reached 79.4 per cent.
According to the Ministry of Energy, grounding works are underway at the station site, and concurrently, the reservation phase of the autotransformer is being completed. Most of the primary equipment has already been delivered and installed, with the conductors and clamps needed for the final interconnection of installations expected to be received soon. Meanwhile, the assembly of protection cabinets continues in the local workshop.
The Minister of Energy said that the implementation of the Vulcanesti-Chisinau line would ensure a solid connection with the European network, contributing to enhancing the energy independence of Moldova and reducing the risks of supply interruptions. The official asked the decision-makers to observe the deadlines.
The modernization of the Chisinau 330 kV Station and the expansion of the Vulcanesti 400 kV Electrical Station are essential stages for connecting the Vulcanesti-Chisinau 400 kV Overhead Power Line to the energy infrastructure in the south and center of the country, including Chisinau municipality. This system will allow for the direct transport of energy flows to the largest consumption node of the country.
The Vulcanesti-Chisinau overhead power line will be 157 km long, with over 500 pylons and approximately 1,500 km of three-phase conductors, creating a strategic link between the south and center of the country. The project crosses eight districts and 35 localities and is implemented under the Power System Development Project, financed by the World Bank Group.
The total value of the investment is 61 million euros, of which about 27 million euros is allocated for the construction of the overhead power line.
