Bilateral screening on Chapter 26 - Education and Culture takes place in Brussels

Today, 13 May, a review of Chapter 26 – Education and Culture, covering five key areas: education, vocational training, youth, sports and culture is taking place in Brussels.

Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov emphasized the importance of the step for the country's modernization.

“Chapter 26 – Education and Culture means a modern educational system that offers more opportunities and better conditions for teachers, creative people, athletes, and young people in schools, universities, sports centers or cultural centers,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.

The importance of Chapter 26 – Education and Culture was also highlighted by Secretary-General of the Ministry of Education and Research Galina Rusu.

“Implementing policies in this area will help us support teachers, digitize the educational system and prepare our institutions for active participation in European projects and programs,” Galina Rusu said.

Andrei Chistol, State Secretary of the Ministry of Culture mentioned the benefits for the cultural sector.

“We will have more opportunities to support cultural tourism by promoting unique destinations in our country and the traditions that represent us. Investing in film production and other audiovisual genres, protecting and valuing national cultural heritage, and developing creative industries,” stated Andrei Chistol.

Deputy Secretary of the Government for European Integration Rodica Crudu pointed out the essential importance of this chapter for building a sustainable society.

“Education and culture are the foundation of a modern, strong, informed and resilient society, and joining the European Union will allow us to bring our culture and traditions into the great European family,” said Rodica Crudu.

The opening of Chapter 26 confirms Moldova's commitment to align its educational and cultural policies with European standards and to build a society based on knowledge, participation and respect for diversity.
