Legislation on Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia amended in Moldova
Chisinau, 16 December /MOLDPRES/ - The MPs today voted, in the final reading, the draft on amendment and completion of the Law on local public administration and the Law on administrative decentralization, as well as the draft on amendment of the law on the administrative and territorial organization of Moldova.
Thus, the national legal framework will be completed with the term ‘’Local public administration authorities of special level,’’ which comprises powers of the fields reserved for the authorities of the second level, as well as the powers given through the law on the special legal status of Gagauzia (Gagauz-Yeri).
The amendment of the law on Moldova’s administrative and territorial organization sees that the administrative and territorial organization of Moldova is carried out on the following levels: villages (communes) and towns and cities represent the level I; the districts and the Balti city represent the level II and the Gagauz autonomous territorial unit and the Chisinau municipality have a special level of administration.
At the same time, the draft reads that the change of the status of the autonomous territorial unit Gagauzia, the entrance and exit of settlements in/from the Gagauzia autonomous territorial unit is made in line with the provisions of the Law No 344 XILI from 23 December 1994 on the special legal status of Gagauzia.
