Working group led by Moldovan PM to propose solutions for strengthening cybersecurity

The authorities will establish a working group tasked with proposing solutions to strengthen the cybersecurity of Moldova. The working group will be led by Prime Minister Vasile Tofan and will have one month to submit its proposals. President Maia Sandu today made statements to this effect, after a meeting of the National Security Council (NSC). The participants in the event considered the measures needed to strengthen the country’s cybersecurity and ensure a higher level of protection for governmental digital services.

According to the head of state, during one month, the members of the working group will assess the present situation and propose solutions to strengthen cybersecurity, while a new NSC meeting will be held in three months, in order to monitor the progress made and the results achieved.

“We agreed that a working group will be established under the leadership of the prime minister and that, during one month, this working group will propose systemic solutions to cybersecurity-related problems in Moldova. In three months, we will meet again at the National Security Council, to monitor the progress made during these three months,” President Maia Sandu said after the NSC meeting.

The NSC assembled after a cyberattack against information systems had taken place between October 19 and 23, 2026. Criminal proceedings have been initiated in connection with the case.
