Chișinău and Kyiv strengthen cooperation on European integration
The Republic of Moldova and Ukraine will coordinate their efforts and continue to support each other in joining the European Union. The issue was discussed in Bucharest during a meeting between Moldova’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi and his Ukrainian counterpart Andrij Sybiha.
The discussions focused on the security situation in the region, priorities for the coming period in the EU accession process, as well as bilateral cooperation in areas of common interest.
Mihai Popșoi noted that the 2026 Enlargement Package, recently presented by the European Commission, confirms the progress made by the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine on the path to European integration.
According to the minister, both states are among the most advanced candidate countries for accession to the European Union, based on European assessments. At the same time, the roadmaps they received set out the steps and actions required to advance the negotiations.
“We have a common objective and the same determination to move forward. We want peace, development, and a secure future for our citizens. We will continue to coordinate our efforts and support each other in bringing our countries into the great European family,” Mihai Popșoi said.
Popșoi is paying a visit to Bucharest, Romania, from November 5 to 6. The official will participate in the annual meeting of the foreign ministers of the member states of the Central European Initiative.
