Moldovan head of state says 1 June important day for Moldova, Europe
Chisinau, 1 June /MOLDPRES/ - The day of 1 June is an important day for Moldova and for Europe. I am looking forward to host the presidents and prime ministers of the states from the European political community. President Maia Sandu has made statements to this effect during the ceremony on meeting the guests of the Summit of the European Political Community (EPC Summit).
The official said that she was proud that Moldova hosted this event. ‘’We have many subjects which we should discuss. We will certainly speak about the situation in Ukraine; the restoration of peace on the continent is on our agenda. We must reconfirm the support for Ukraine and its resistance to the Russian aggression,’’ Maia Sandu said.
The head of state noted that today the participants in the EPC Summit would discuss the energy, security and connectivity. ‘’We want to work for the citizens of our countries. At the bilateral meetings, we will discuss Moldova’s accession to EU. Our commitment is to prepare the country for accession and I will urge the European leaders to back this plan and we start the negotiations as soon as possible,’’ Maia Sandu said.
Also, the Moldovan president thanked the European partners for the support provided for the event’s organization.
Moldova hosts the EPC Summit, which will bring together about 50 heads of state, prime ministers and high-ranking European officials.
