Moldovan parliament approves establishment of 12 standing commissions of XIIth legislature

The parliament of Moldova, at a plenary meeting on October 30, approved the decision on the establishment of the 12 standing commissions of the Legislature and the determination of their numerical and nominal composition.

According to the document, the commissions will reflect the main areas of the institution's activity and will contribute to enhancing the legislative process efficiency. Among them is the juridical commission for appointments and immunities, led by Veronica Rosca, the commission for economy, budget and finance, chaired by Radu Marian, and the commission for national security, defense and public order, led by Lilian Carp.

At the same time, the commission for European integration is headed by Marcel Spatari, while the commission for foreign policy is led by Doina Gherman. In the social field, the commission for social protection, health and family is chaired by Adrian Belii and the commission for agriculture and food industry is led by Serghei Ivanov.

The parliament also set up the commission for culture, education, research, youth, sport and media, chaired by Liliana Nicolaescu-Onofrei, and the commission for environment, climate and green transition, led by Valeriu Muduc.

The commission for human rights and interethnic relations will be headed by Grigore Novac and the Commission for public administration and regional development - by Liliana Iaconi.

The commission for public finance control is led by Adrian Lebedinskii.

According to the decision, the numerical composition of the commissions varies between 5 and 11 members, depending on the domain's specifics and the volume of work.

The standing commissions are tasked with analyzing legislative drafts, drafting opinions and reports and exercising parliamentary control over the enforcement of laws and public policies.
