
Chisinau, Bucharest cities united by new edition of Rubicon Ultramarathon
The second edition of the Rubicon ultramarathon will be organized on 28 February-2 March 2025. People fond of running on long distances will cover a route of 482 km, which will unite the two capitals: Chisinau and Bucharest.
Thus, the race will start in Bucharest and the finish line with be in Chisinau. The participants will have opportunity to cross 10 regions of Romania and Moldova.
The goal of the event is to promote sport on both banks of the Prut river, thus consolidating the cultural and sports relations between the two countries. The organization of the ultramarathon is the result of an agreement on cooperation in the sports sector between Romania and Moldova.
The preparations for the Rubicon 2025 Ultramarathon are already underway and the details related to the event’s organization were discussed by the state secretary for the sports field at the Education and Research Ministry, Sergiu Gurin, and the deputy head of the National Agency for Sport of Romania, Tomas Moldovan.
„This is more than just a mere contest. This is a symbol of the unity and cooperation between Romania and Moldova,’’ Sergiu Gurin said.
The first edition of the Rubicon Ultramarathon, which took place last year, brought together over 200 runners at the start.
